Eid-Ul-Adhia Message: Unity of Allah Almighty is the source of universal peace

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuhu

On Sunday 6th November 2011, Muslims across the country will be celebrating the Eidul Adhia (the Feast of Sacrifices). As always, it should strengthen our attachment to the love of Allah Almighty and His Unity.

The Unity of Allah Almighty, our Lord and Creator, should be the foundation on which every activity of a believer is erected. Every activity that is devoid of it does not earn His pleasure. All forms of associating partners with Him should be shunned. Perfect trust should be put in Him. These were the qualities of the three righteous ones we are remembering. It is these qualities that the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) has come to nourish.  He was challenged by his opponents and told that if he did away with the Unity of Allah Almighty he would be offered anything that his heart desired. His response was that no endearments or persecutions could sever him from the tree of life—the Unity of Allah Almighty. Some of his helpless Companions were dragged on the streets under the scorching sun but as their bodies bled their hearts become fuller with the Unity of Allah Almighty. An example of such Companions was Sayyedna Bilal (Allah be pleased with him). Like the sacrificial lamb, their blood was shed in protecting the truth. It could be said that they watered the tender plant of Islam with their blood thus establishing the Unity of Allah on earth. They were indeed obedient to the command of Allah Almighty that we should follow the religion of Prophet Ibrahim (as) and not associate anything with Allah Almighty.

It is only when we kill our ego and our selfish desires that we can dye ourselves in the colour of righteousness, devotion to the Unity of the Beloved God, humility and truthfulness. It is the Unity of Allah Almighty that gives birth to universal brotherhood, unity and love. This is the spirit of the Eid. The world is facing a lot of disorders but they could be solved if we live by the lessons learnt from the Eid. Arrogance, selfishness, superiority complex, injustice, and moral decadence (which are due to cutting oneself from the Unity of Allah Almighty) are the root causes of these disorders. If we sacrifice our ego like we sacrifice the lambs, then the world shall breathe an air free of these disorders.

Visiting neighbours, friends and family are essential but in doing so, preference should not be given to the rich and well-off. The poor should always be remembered and helped and should be equally treated with love, compassion and kindness.

Let us continue to pray for countries in disorder that Allah Almighty may establish peace there and remember our Muslim brothers and sisters in those countries. All Muslims are brothers and are like a body; if one part aches the other part feels it. We should remember entire humanity in our prayers.

I convey to you the EID MUBARAK, salaam and prayers of Hadrat Amirul Mu’mineen, Khalifatul Masih V (ATBA), Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (may Allah Almighty help and strengthen him), the Spiritual and Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at. He is always remembering the Gambia in his prayers for the success, peace, stability and prosperity of our dear motherland. On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at the Gambia, I extend EID MUBARAK, salaam and prayers to you all.

May Allah Almighty make us unwavering believers in His Unity. May He make us live by the noble example of Hadrat Ibrahim, Hadrat Ismail and Hadrat Hajerah (may He have mercy on them) and make us follow the blessed and peaceful teachings of Islam. May He continue strengthening mutual love, unity and peace among us. May He make us to His devoted servants like the three we are remembering. May He establish lasting peace, love and harmony in our dear country the Gambia. Ameen.

Wassalam

Yours sincerely,
