Kombo South tourney finals billed for Saturday

The 2015 finals of the Kombo South District football tournament is slated for Saturday, 24 October 2015, at the Sanyang football field at 4.30pm.

The game between Kartong and Tanji is described by many football enthusiasts in Kombo South as a clash of the titans.

Saturday’s final will be the third appearance of Kartong in Kombo South District biggest football fiesta, after losing to Sanyang 2-0 in the final game played at the Jambanjelly football field in 2000.It also lost to Farato on penalties, after regulation time failed to produce a winner in the final game played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School football field in 2008.

Kartong beat Tujereng 7-6 on penalties, after regulation time finished goalless in the semi-final game played at the Sanyang football field, to advance to the finals for the third time in their history.

The famous Folonko boys will be striving for a win against the beach boys to clinch their first-ever Kombo South District football tournament title, after losing the title to Sanyang and Farato in 2000 and 2008.

Tanji beat Nyofelleh in the semi-final game played at the Sanyang football field to progress to the finals for the second time in their history.The team had lost to Sifoe 1-0 in the final game played at the Jambanjelly football field in 2014.

The beach boys will be fighting for victory against the Folonko boys to claim their first-ever Kombo South District football tournament title.

Saturday’s finals kick-off is expected to be taken by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Alieu K. Jammeh.

The final game will also be witness by the president of the Gambia Football Federation, Lamin Kabba Bajo, and other dignitaries.
