The child is named after Jay Saidy (Sheriff Abba), an erudite scholar who died on 15 August 2001 and buried in his home town of Janjangbureh, beside his mother and father.
Born to the Trawally family who also has their roots from the island of Janjangburreh, baby Jay Saidy’s naming ceremony was full of joy.
His father is Mamadou Trawally and mother, Mariama Njie.
The ceremony, presided over by the deputy Imam of Brikama Jiddah, was held without informing the family and relatives of the late Jay Saidy.
The idea was to keep the ceremony a low key affair. It was days after the ceremony that the relatives of the late Jay Saidy were informed.
The family responded by putting together a delegation comprising Mrs Kumba Bah, a cousin of the late Jay Saidy, and two nephews: Mamadou Lamin Sanyang and Abdoulie Danso.
These people were accompanied by some ancillary staff of the widow of Jay Saidy, Vice President Isatou Njie-Saidy.The delegation was later joined by grandpa, Alhagie Ba Trawally.
They made presentation of cash and kind to baby Jay Saidy’s family.
