Jatta’s FC and Medina United have been confirmed league and knockout champions respectively by the Lamin Sports Committee following their victories over their opponents at the weekend.
Last year’s knockout champions Jatta’s FC beat London United 3-1 on post-match penalty shootout following a goalless draw on regulation time at the Sanna Jatta Memorial ground to be crowned league champions.
The final was graced by the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) president who pledged to support in the upgrading of the pitch, which is in poor conditions.
Medina United were confirmed knockout champions after beating Golden Gate FC by penalties following a stalemate from normal time of play.
DPS Abdoulie Kah, who deputized the Minister of Youth and Sports during the knockout final, also said they would try to support as Lamin is a big zone that needs support at the moment.
Momodou Faal, chairman of Lamin Sports Committee, for his part, thanked the GFF, MoYS and all stakeholders that graced the finals.
He called on the community of Lamin to give support to the committee to work towards realizing the development of sport in the village, particularly the football pitch.
All hands must be put on deck to work towards the development of Sanna Jatta Memorial ground, which is a priority, he stated.
