Goals from the Gambia Ports Authority crafted midfielder Saloum Faal and leading scorer in the championshi, Pa Modou Bah gave Jattas another historic title with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wayeto United in Sunday's League final, at the late Sanna Jatta Memorial Football Field in Lamin.
The champions took a first half lead through Saloum Faal who helped the GPA side regained promotion to the country's top flight football following their demotion to the second division two seasons ago from a clinical finish.
Six goals hero in the championship, Pa Modou Bah, who doubles Jattas lead when he capitalized on a defensive error by Wayeto Captain Pierre Camara to slot home from a brilliant right footed close range shot eight minutes into an action packed league final.
The Head Coach of Wayeto United who failed in his second attempt to win the League final, Anthony Gibba admitted that it was disappointing to lost the final on two occasions. He was however quick to add that they would prepare as early as possible ahead of the next summer championship in order to win a trophy.
Jattas were awarded a giant trophy and a cash prize of D12,000 while Wayeto that pulled a goal back, courtesy of Baba Sissoho went home with a cash prize of D10.000.
In a similar development, the knock-out final between KGH and Workshop which failed to produce any winner in Friday's final would be replayed this Wednesday in Lamin.
In Brikama, Chimo United FC were crowned champions of the 2009-10 Brikama League Championship, after thrashing Black Pool FC 3-0 in Sunday's final at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
As the champions, Chimo United FC bagged a giant trophy and cash prize of D20, 000.00, while Black Pool FC received D15, 000.00.
