Fatou
Fatty, a native of Jambur yesterday testified before the TRRC’s regional
hearings that her mother died as a result of former president, Yahya Jammeh’s
witch-hunting activities in 2009.
She
explained that when the witch hunters came to their village, Adama Bojang, came
and told her mother Nyima Koteh alias Boye Koteh to go and see what was
happening because they were dancing. She added that her mother was 81 years at
the time.
“After
the dance, they put them in the vehicle and I asked what was going on? Some
told me that they were going to be cured, but I never knew in what form.”
She
testified that they were taken by some soldiers and men dressed in red. She,
however, added that her mother came back like a mad person with her teeth
broken, adding that she died after being sick from the incident.
“After
three days, I took her to the hospital for and they said she was suffering from
diabetes. She never opened her eye, she was in the same condition before taken
to the hospital and she died like that.”
