The village development committee in Jamally Ganyado village in the Sami district, Central River Region North, recently concluded a two-day capacity building on roles and responsibilities of the Village Development Committee.
The programme commenced with open sensitisation for all to be informed on issues of the Village Development Committee (VDC) and how they should constitute according to the Local Government Act 2002.
According to officials, the programme was supported by Community Driven Development Project through the good governance fund for NGOs, Civil Society Organisations among others.
Speaking on the occasion, the lady chairperson for Jamwelly Bayaba Women Kafo, Wurry Kandeh Jawoh, said her organisation was able to secure support from the CDDP good governance fund to establish and sensitise the VDC, according to the Local Government Act 2002.
“We started with Jallubeh village, then Kibiri village and finally in Jamally Ganyado village,” she explained.
She further pointed out that her organisation was founded five years ago and since then it has been striving to bring about development in the area.
