Abubakarr Sidique Foundation for Dawah and Orphans Welfare (ASFDOW), an organisation established to support orphans and people who newly convert to Islam, Sunday sponsored another set of students in Gunjur and its environs.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at its head office in Gunjur, the Chairman of the foundation, Alhagie Sandang Bojang, said the Welfare is established to support needy orphans and newly converted people as well as to observe Dawah.

"The Welfare is ready to support orphans and new converts in Gunjur and its environs," he said, calling on parents to always monitor the affairs of their children in school.

He however said that sponsored orphans or new converts who fail to perform well would have their sponsorship discontinued.

The coordinator of the Welfare, Buba Janneh, said the Welfare was formed in 2003 with the aim and objectives of supporting orphans and new converts in Gunjur and its environs.

"The Welfare, which started sponsoring students and new converts in 2006, has so far offered sponsorship packages to 80 students," Mr Janneh said.

For his part, Tijan Darboe, member of the Welfare, urged his fellow members to pay their subscription "so they can realise their aspirations".
