Interior on Sunday defeated Hawks 1-0 in the week-nine fixture of the 2012-2013 Gamtel-Gamcel sponsored GFA division one league played at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
Interior, who made a poor start to the league campaign, in the 25th minute of the game found the net when striker Momodou Camara Toubab gave the opener, which eventually proved to be the winner for the security boys.
Hawks responded back quickly and dominated in ball possession as well as came close to levelling the score through players Omar Sarr, Modou Badjie and Lamin Fofana in the 55th, 64th and 77th minutes of the game but those opportunities were denied by Interior’s outstanding goalkeeper Muhammed Nyang to lay a 1-0 game.
Elsewhere, 2010-2011 league champions Brikama United were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation threatened Seaview in the other week nine fixtures played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium the same day.
Brikama United opened the score through striker Yankuba Jarju in the 68th minute of the game before Nuha Jatta levelled the score for Seaview in the 82nd minute of the game to share the spoil.
Brikama United are 3rd with 14 points in eight games with a game in hand against Gambia Ports Authority; Interior are 6th on the league standing with 11 points in eight games; Seaview are 2nd from bottom with 7 points in nine games, while Hawks are rooted at the bottom of the table with 5 points in nine games.
