Swansea City winger Modou Secka Barrow has said injury denied him from playing for The Gambia against South Africa in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers played on Saturday 4 June 2016, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Scorpions lost to Bafana Bafana 4-0 in that encounter in the second leg fixtures at home.

Barrow was speaking to reporters at his sponsored football tournament game at Buffer Zone football field at the weekend.

Barrow said he could have played for Sweden but decided he would play for The Gambia, adding that he is currently nursing calf injury, which denied him featuring for The Gambia against South Africa in the continent’s biggest football fiesta qualifiers.

Barrow revealed that he is always proud to represent The Gambia, noting that “calf injury definitely denied” him from playing for The Gambia against South Africa “and nothing else”.

Barrow said further that he would always be ready to play for The Gambia when he is injury-free.

“I am suffering calf injury at the moment so I need to relax until it get better and resume pre-season with Swansea for the new premier league,” Barrow said.
