According to the particulars of offence, the accused, Yaya Sam, on 31 August 2013, at the Banjul International Airport, Old Yundun village, impersonated himself to be one Zakaria Sam, his brother, on a Belgian passport number A301890 and Belgian residential permit B11308964, when his real name is Yaya Sam.
The facts of the case as narrated by Chief Inspector Camara stated that it happened on 30 August 2013, at the Banjul International Airport, when Rusling Airline was getting onboard its intending travellers to Barcelona.
The accused arrived at the profiling desk where he handed his Belgian passport with a residential permit number bearing Zakaria Sam number A 301890 and number B113089064.
The profiling officer called the attention of the taskforce and got him handed over to them where he was cautioned and charged for impersonating.
In his plea of mitigation, he begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying he was a first-time offender.
