As part of their contribution to the development of The Gambia, the Insurance Association of the Gambia (IAG) last Thursday 1st July 2010 donated 100 raincoats to the Gambia Police Force.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Police Headquarters in Banjul, is also part of the IAG's contribution to the development of the Gambia Police Force.

Receiving the donated items, the Inspector General of Police, Yankuba Sonko said that the Gambia Police Force belongs to all Gambians. He said Gambia Police Force has been partnering with many stakeholders in the areas of development, noting that the donated raincoats would serve its intended purpose.

He promised the insurance association that the raincoats would be put to good use, adding that the raincoats come at a time when the officers on traffic duties need to control the high way for the road users.

For his part, Mr. Henry Jawo, the Secretary-General of the Insurance Association of the Gambia, said the donation aims to create a smooth flow of traffic during and after the rainy season.

According to him, the IAG believes that it is during the rainy season when the rate of accidents is high in our traffic.

Mr. Jawo promised that the IAG would tirelessly continue working with the Gambia Police Force in the area of traffic regulation.

The ceremony was attended by security chiefs and some members of Insurance Association of the Gambia.
