The housebreaking and stealing case involving one Modou Saine continued recently at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court with the testimony of a prosecution witness.
Gibril Colley, a police officer, testified and revealed to the court that on 22 August 2011, while he was on duty at the station, he received a file case involving the accused with a subject matter of housebreaking and stealing.
He added that he then launched an investigation into the matter and during the investigation, the accused was interrogated and he denied the allegation, but was detained for further investigation.
Officer Colley further disclosed that during the investigation, one Wally Mendy volunteered and came to the station and gave a statement on the matter relating to the case, that he saw the accused at the time he got into the complainant’s premises.
He added that the accused was then charged with the offence committed.
He said the items alleged to have been stolen by the accused were two laptops and a cash of D3, 000.
He said he later visited the place and found that the accused passed through the main entrance and broke the padlock of the complaint’s house.
The case at that juncture was adjourned for defence.
