Hoja Secka on 17 December 2011 emerged winner of the 17th edition Brufut Marathon Run Air Ticket after finishing at a time of 1hour 40 seconds in the female 21km race.
Secka received the air ticket donated by SN Brussels Airlines as part of its contribution towards the annual Brufut Marathon run.
Mariama T. Jallow clinched the 10km race title followed by Jainaba Ganou in 2nd position and Nyima Kujabi 3rd position.
In the Ladies 1km race, Fatoumatta Sambou snatched the 1first position followed by Fatou Corr in 2nd position and Kaddy Jawara 3rd position.
In the Walk Race 1km race, Amie Kasseh secured the first position followed by Mary Mendy in the second position and Marie Dibasey third.
Andrew Jassey won the Male 21km Race at a time of 1hour 40 seconds, while Saikou Camara came out first position in the Male 10km race.
In the Cycling 70km race, Buba Jobe came first, followed by Sulayman Colley and Amadou Bah.
Speaking at the ceremony, the executive director of the Brufut Marathon Run Association (BMRA), Mamudou Max Jallow, applauded Brussels Airlines, Gambega, Banjul Breweries and others for their contributions towards the success of this year’s Brufut Marathon Run.
The annual Brufut Marathon Run started in 1994 and has now attracted participants from across country and beyond, he said, adding that they are delighted to introduce the 21km race and other events that are also well recogonised.
They would make more efforts to ensure they realise their dreams and aspirations in the near future, he said.
He also hailed the media for their contribution towards the success of the event, adding that they would introduce 42km race next year as another standard marathon.
The National Assembly Member for Kombo North, Adam Cham, thanked the BMRA for the initiative.
Other speakers on the occasion included National Sports Council chairman Sulayman Bun-Nijie and BMRA chairman Ba S. Jabbi.
