The Finnish giants are into the national league cup at quarterfinal stage when they play Inter Tarku on Sunday.
The champions, for whom Gambia International Demba Savage plays, are also bracing up for the opening of their national highest league when they play Jaro in the opening of the showpiece next month (on 6 April) at home.
Last season, according to soccerway.com, they were booted out at the same quarterfinal stage by HJk but Lahti were the winners of the title last season beating their opponents in the quarterfinal, semis and final.
Demba, who finished 6th as the league highest goal scorer with eleven goals last season, will be looking forward to replicating and gunning in more goals at his tally.
HJK, who celebrated their 18th national league title last season, and won the Suomen Cup for the eleventh time, are still a force to be reckoned with in the Scandinavian football.
Since playing football in Finland, Savage, who was previously with sister Honka, has won eight different titles with the two sides altogether scoring a handful of goals with them.
