Headmaster testifies in alleged theft case

Sanchba Sulay Lower Basic School headmaster Muhammed Barry recently testified in the trial of Babucarr Sambou who is being tried for theft, at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Abeke.

Testifying as the second prosecution witness, Barry told the court that on 15 May 2011, he was in his house when he received a telephone call from one Muhammed Ceesay.

Muhammed Ceesay informed him that they had caught a thief at their workplace but the thief escaped, he said.

According to him, upon receiving the information, he went to the scene and met Muhammed Ceesay and others, who told him they had got the name of the person as one Babucarr Sambou.

He said he was shown a window where the accused person passed through to enter the workplace, adding that when he entered the room he noticed that the accused had damaged the ceiling before going through the toilet window.

He added that he later reported the matter to the Old Yundum Police Station, where he made a statement.
