The Secretary General at the Office of the President and Head of Civil Service, Dr Njoju Bah, inspired the young people in the country, through a speech he delivered on the final day of the conference component of the National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF).
Addressing the youth conference yesterday at the Paradise Suites Hotel, where the conference was held, Dr. Bah urged the youths to, first and foremost, know who they are, and what they want to be in future.
While assuring Gambian youths of the government’s continuing support, Secretary General Bah told the future leaders that President Yahya Jammeh and his government, indeed, believe in them.
In his inspiring speech, he also advised young people to remain united, and to have love for one another.
“You must support and wish everybody well and try to do good. If you do that, no one can prevent you from being great,” said Dr Bah.
“Help your brothers and sisters,” Dr Bah told conference delegates from across the country and beyond, while encouraging them to seek knowledge, noting that a society that is knowledgeable is likely going to progress.
“Stay away from trouble, do the right thing, and tomorrow you will be a happy person,” SG told the youths.
He further told them that doing wrong would only put them in trouble, and make them regret.
“We were able to persevere and, at the end of the day, we were able to achieve something. I want you to know that you can be anything in this country; you only have to be focused and determined,” he added.
Another inspiring statement was delivered by John Njie of Pro-PAG, who tasked youth to take charge of their destiny.
“Your destiny lies in your hands,” he emphasised.
According to him, the future is bright for Gambian youths, since there are opportunities. “You must educate yourselves and acquire multiple tasks,” Njie concluded.
