Hawks
on Sunday defeated Bombada 3-1 in the first leg of the 2016-2017 GFF FF Cup
semifinal played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to increase their chances
of playing the country’s league cup final.
The
Brikama-based outfit were the FF Cup runners-up last season after losing to
rivals Brikama United in the final prior to their first-leg clash with the Red
Devils.
Red
Devils beat them 3-1 to boost their hopes of playing the FF Cup final since
2014 when they lost to Banjul United 1-0 in the final game played at the
Independence Stadium in Bakau.

of striker Pa Omar Babou’s dying-minute strike to inspired the Banjul-based
outfit to their first-ever FF Cup title.
Elsewhere,
Real De Banjul were held to a goalless draw by Banjul United in the other
semifinal first-leg tie played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
Hawks
will now host Bombada in the second leg of the semifinal tomorrow, Wednesday 17
May 2017.
Banjul
United will welcome Real De Banjul in the other second leg of the semifinal the
same day.
