Hamarong Kunda have been crowned champions of this year's league final in Kiang Bajana (LRR) naweetan after coming from behind to entertain Bajumang FC to a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win at the Bajana football field recently.
Hamarong Kunda, who received D2,500 as champions, proved too good for their fellow finalists Bajumang FC, who were twice forced to come from behind to cancel a 2-nil deficit in the regulation period.
Even though the defeat has somehow dented their title ambition, the Bajana outfit were rewarded for what the officials described as their outstanding performance, which helped them to attract a consolation prize of D1,500 as runners up.
The kick-off of the final of a four-team championship was taken by Sanna Ceesay, a native of the village.
The titanic encounter, which ended 2-2 in the regulation period, according to Mbemba Barjo, a member of Bajana Youth and Sports Committee, was purposely organised by the committee members to foster the unity among the youths of the village.
