Habitual offender arraigned for allegedly stealing from a church

One James Kanu, who was earlier convicted by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and Bundung Magistrates’ Court, was on 25 November 2013, arraigned again before Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing at a church.

Kanu denied the charge and is remanded at the Mile 2 prisons until 11 December 2013, when the prosecuting officer would call his witnesses to testify.

The Inspector General of Police stated in his particulars of offence that the accused, James Kanu, on 19 November 2013, at Redeemed Christian Church of God, at Pipeline, in the Kanifing Municipality, broke into the church office building and stole the following items: 2 laptops marked HP valued at D15,000, a digital projector marked Bang MP 515 valued at D15,000, a laptop bag valued at D1,000, a Gamcel internet stick valued at D3,000, an RLG mobile phone valued at D1,600, a flash drive valued at D1,000, a phone battery valued at D200, a pair of slippers valued at D200 and cash of D9,180.
