Gunjur Town team beat Football Gambia, a charitable organisation based in the UK, 8-1 in a friendly game played at the Gunjur playground on Monday.
The well-contested game was organised to strengthen the cordial relationship that exists between Gunjur youth, the Sports Development Association (GYSDA) and Football Gambia.
The game was witnessed by thousands of football fans across Gunjur and its environs.
Gunjur Town team scored four goals in the first half, courtesy of Pa Abdoulie Jammeh (alias Beckham), Bakary Daffeh (alias Kanu), Kansidia Touray and Dodou Saine in the 10th, 14th, 25th and 40th minutes of the game to complete a 4-nil scoring advantage in the first half.
Upon resumption, Gunjur continued to pile heavy pressure on their opponents and their struggle was finally rewarded with two good goals from Yusupha Barrow and Bakary Sambou, who netted in the 60th and 75th minute to seal the victory for Gunjur Town team.
