The Gambia Ports Authority Tuesday evening returned to Banjul from Dakar where they took part in the first leg of the CAF African Champions league match against Jaraaf of Senegal with a promising 1-1 draw in Dakar.
The Ferry boys, who became the GFA division one league champions after conquering the country’s top flight football last season, took an early second-half lead through Hatab Badjie’s 51st minute strike on their way to what could have been a famous away victory.
Coach Peter Bonu Johnson and his capital city boys, who left the shores of the country on Wednesday morning, according to information reaching Pointsport desk, had an outstanding game in Dakar at the weekend.
But their hope of keeping hold onto their narrow lead was dashed when Jaraaf responded with an equaliser to hold the Banjul club to a 1-1 draw at stoppage time.
The draw has put the Ferry boys in a firm position going into their return leg clash against Jaraaf in a fortnight in Banjul.
