Former
lecturer of the University of The Gambia (UGT), Alhagie Gumbo Ali Touray has
registered his political party, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
announced on Monday, 6 January 2020.
The
party is All Peoples Party (APP).
“The
Independent Electoral Commission hereby wishes to notify the general public
that having met the requirements for registration under section 105 of the
Elections Act 2009 (as amended), a new party: All Peoples Party has this 6th
day of January, 2020 been duly registered as a bona fide political party,” a
news release from the IEC added.
The
release also outlined the particulars of the registered party, with Alhagie
Gumbo Ali Touray as interim party leader.
The
party’s secretariat is at Wellingara, West Coast Region. Its colour is sea blue
and white diagonally from top left to right with blue down. The party acronym is APP.
The
party’s symbol is a book, a rice plant and stethoscope and with the motto:
Putting People First.
