Stakeholders from various institutions on Friday validated a new standard curriculum for the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute (GTHI).

The new curriculum, validated at the institute’s premises in Kanifing, focused on thematic areas such as cookery and pastry, bar and restaurant, front office, housekeeping, and laundry and hospitality skills.

The consultant for the standardisation and validation of the curriculum, Morro Krubally, said to ensure rigour, the project management invited specialists in the thematic areas to validate each of the units individually, for a total of 182 units of competence.

He said the project would not have been completed without the professionalism, commitment, and dedication of the official of the GTHI and his own project team.

Mr Krubally said that with the new curriculum, graduates of the GTHI can stand shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts anywhere and be confident of their skills and training, and personal development as a result of benefiting from a delivery of world standard curriculum.
