Members of The Green Africa-America, EU, ACP tour project for 2013 to 2020 recently organised a press conference and audition of live band performances for various musicians, at the Alliance Francaise Cultural Centre at Kairaba Avenue.
Briefing journalists during the press conference, Professor Darryl, coordinator of Green Africa-America tour project, said the reason they called on the musicians for the audition and live band performance was to see the professional music and attractive performance which have to be done during the tour festival in America.
Professor Darryl further told journalists that the band group would back up the solo musicians who are going to be chosen to participate in the tour festival as well.
He added that the participating delegates would most likely be Bati Yaye Band in Foni Kanilai, Musa Afia Ngum, the Senegambia legendary Yusupha Ngum aka Jollof Man and Awa Conte of Yaws Creation for the Lagos Fashion Weekend events to be held in Nigeria.
Professor Darryl explained that before the starting of the tour festival in America, musicians, models and designers will also be chosen to be part of the delegates of the tour festivals.
He said the theme is Africa’s 3rd Millennium and beyond, and the sub-theme is profitable business and development opportunities.
Also speaking at the press conference, Oliver Mboge, President of Musigam, said his duty as the elected president is to ensure Gambia music goes international and be beneficial to players in the profession.
