Due to financial constraints the 16-year-old girl could not continue her studies this past academic year.
Her mother, a single parent, who has been doing her level best over the years to pay her school fees and take care of other school needs, could not afford to meet the cost of Khadijatou’s education at Grade 9.
“I was paying her school fees out of the little profit I was making from my fish and bread sale but since she got to Grade 9, I could not generate enough income to take care of her school anymore hence she had to stop since I could not pay her fees and buy her books,” said Mariama Sumareh, the mother of Khadijatou.
“She is always tormenting me to go back to school but I don’t have [the wherewithal] to send her back to school, so I am pleading with the public, especially the government, the private sector, NGOs, and other good people in this country and abroad to help me sponsor her education,” she said.
