The occasion is part of annual activities of the authority’s calendar in recognition and to honour compliant taxpayers, who pays their taxes and duties on time and consistently.
GRA as an institution mandated to assess and collect all revenue due for government had realised the need to recognise and award its most compliant taxpayers.
“It is not only to motivate them to pay their taxes, but also to foster a culture of compliance amongst its taxpayers,” the GRA stated, adding that the compliant taxpayers make it possible for government to meet its development initiatives and to continue to provide essential services for the people.
According to the authority, the rationale behind the annual event is to say thank you to the taxpayers by the board and management of GRA for their compliance, which is in accordance with best practices.
According to GRA, the day was also set aside to recognise and thank their “valuable customers” for their continued compliance with the laws of the authority.
