Mobile thief convicted

A man called Yusupha Jobe, who was accused of stealing two mobile phones and cash amounting to D20,250, was recently convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of D2,000 in default he would serve four months in prison by the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Isatou Janneh.

The convict was also ordered to pay a compensation of D20,250 in default he would serve one year in prison.

Delivering her judgment, magistrate Isatou Janneh read the charge sheet pressed against the convicted person, which she said, the convict denied.

She said the prosecution called 6 witnesses in support of their case but no exhibit was recovered.

The trial magistrate further revealed that there was both direct and circumstantial evidence linking the convict to the offence.

She said the evidence adduced by the prosecution witnesses was cogent and held that the evidence adduced by the prosecution witnesses had supported the charge against the convict.

The convict begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
