The
2015-2016 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league champions
Gambia Ports Authority are set to return home today, 21 February 2017, from
Abidjan, Ivory Coast, following their 2017 CAF Champions league success over
Sewe Sport.
The
Gambia champions held the Ivorian vice-champions to a goalless draw in the
second leg clash on Sunday to sail to the second round of the continent’s top
tier football club competition following their 1-0 home win over the Ivorian
side in the first leg in Banjul last week.
The
Gambian champions will now face As Vita Club of Democratic Republic of Congo in
the first leg in March 2017, in Banjul before the return leg a week later in
Kinshasa.
The
Ivorian side will now hang their boots in the continent’s top-tier football
club competition after losing to The Gambia champions 1-0 on aggregate and will
therefore switch their attention to the domestic league.
