Gambia Ports Authority, the current league leaders of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) First Division League has registered another vital victory, following their 1-0 victory over Interior FC in Saturday's Week Thirteen fixtures at Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Striker Toni Mendy scored the only goal of the game for the Gambia Ports Authority in the 23rd minute from a sensible free header after capitalising on David Sambou's brilliant corner kick.
Interior FC dominated most of the ball possession during the second period of the game, but could not find the back of the net, thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of the Gambia Ports Authority.
On the same day, at Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, Wallidan FC defeated Real De Banjul by a goal to nil.
As of press time, the Gambia Ports Authority has extended its lead on top of the league table with 30 points from thirteen games, 8 points ahead of second position Wallidan FC, who now collected 22 points from thirteen league games. Interior FC are at 13 points.
Elsewhere, Hawks FC drew 1-1 with Brikama United at the Box Bar Mini-stadium in Brikama, while Real De Banjul bagged 14 points in 13 games.
Pa Saikou Jawneh opened the score line for Brikama United in the 40th minute from a long range strike.
Substituted striker Omar Sarr levels the score line for Hawks FC in the 69th minute of the game from a goal mouth scramble.
The draw has left Hawks FC 11 points, while Brikama United got 13 points.
