GNOC secures US$80,000 scholarship for 5 Gambian athletes

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) has secured scholarship worth of US$80,000 equivalent to D3,200,000(three million two hundred thousand dalasi) for five Gambian athletes.

The five Gambian athletes have been granted scholarships by the Olympic Solidarity through GNOC.

Sprinters Adama Jammeh, Tina Bass, Alieu Joof and Assan Faye will attend the IAAF High Performance Centre in Dakar, Senegal, while Omar Jammeh, a long distance runner, will go to Kenya.

The training camp will help the athletes in their quest to get qualification for next year’s Summer Olympics games in Rio.

The selected athletes are expected to leave town as soon as all paper work is finalised.
