The Gambia National Olympic Committee's election is inching closer with less than two days for clubs go to the polls to elect a president after a tempestuous and controversial campaign.
The GNOC Presidential position has since last July been vacant following the conviction of its former President Lang Tombong Tamba who was sentenced by the high court of The Gambia.
Reports have it that only two candidates have confirmed their interest in vying for the GNOC top job. These are Momodou Dibba, former Secretary General of the Gambia Football Association, and Abdoulie "Baks" Touray, who had a successful 20-year spell as General Secretary of the Gambia National Olympic Committee.
The election, initially scheduled for October 16, will now take place on Wednesday, 20 October at the GNOC Olympic House, following the National Sports Council?s request that the GNOC stick to the constitutional provision of 30 days.
