Magistrate J.A. Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Yasanu Gomez, a 19-year-old girl to a fine of D20, in default to serve one month in prison.

However, upon reading the charge sheet to them, the first accused pleaded not guilty, while the second accused pleaded guilty.
According to the facts narrated by the Police Prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Jammeh against the second accused person, it happened on 2nd November 2009, at Old Yundum Police Station.
He narrated that the 1st accused Fatou Mboge went to Old Yundum Police Station to lodge a complain against the 2nd accused person, Yasanu Gomez.
He said during the investigation, the police came to find out that both the accused persons were quarreling in the street and insulting one another. Subsequently, he said both of them were charged with the offence.
Meanwhile, the 1st accused that pleaded not guilty was granted court bail in the sum of D5, 000 with a Gambian surety.
