Gilkock Academy Brufut Branch Holds Talent Execution

Gilkock football academy Brufut branch on Saturday held its annual talent exhibition day at BrufutLowerBasicSchool.

The talent exhibition attracted spectators from Brufut and its environs. The talent show was organised to evaluate the performance of their players.

Speaking on the occasion the Alkalo of Brufut, Alhagie Yunus Sanno hailed management GilkockfootballAcademy for tremendous contribution towards the development and promotion of football in Brufut.

He appealed to parents to allow their children to come for training so that they can become great players in future and he expressed their readiness in promoting and developing football in Brufut particularly grass root level and the Academy also organised a month long HIV\ Aids football camp in the sensitising of footballers to avoid practices which could prone them to the deadly virus .The participants were drawn from the Academy and Nawettan clubs within Brufut.

Speaking earlier the Public Relations Officer, Gilkock Academy Brufut branch, Sang Mendy, said Gilkock Football Academy Brufut branch was formed in 2000 by Sang Ndong with very few materials but thanks to innovation approach of the coach Bubacarr Jallow who transformed people like myself ,Alieu Sanneh and Bubacarr Boris Demba ,who is today serving one of the teams in the Nation premier league Steve Biko FC Bakau giant.

He revealed that the Academy has over the year produced brilliant chaps, players playing in the top flight of Gambian football and the Academy also opened their own website www.gilkock.com in 2007.

He appealed to the football association to organise inter Academy football tournament in order to scout good players for the various National teams and he urged other Academies to organise events to show the parents how their kids are trained.

For his part, the Chairman technical committee GFA, Kebba Ceesay urged the coaches teach the player with basic techniques and tactics in football.

He said all academy across the country will be under GFA and the FA is planning to stage first ever inter academy football tourney and he commended Gilkock Academy Brufut Branch for contribution towards the development of football in Brufut.He revealed that  GFA will offer support to the academies in the country morally and financially in their endeavours to realise their dreams and aspirations.

The results of the games played during the events are as follows:

Six Aside games U-9 Suba defeated Jawara Kunda 1-0, Bojang Kunda lost Manneh Kunda on the same score line while Suba defeated Manneh Kunda 1-0 in the six aside game in U-12 category.
