Ghana U-17 Thrash Gambia U-17 3-1

The Ghana national U-17 team on Sunday defeated The Gambia National U-17 team 3-1 in the first leg of the final round of the 2009 CAF U-17 youth championship to be hosted in Algeria next year.

The match, which ended 3-1 in favor of Ghana national U-17 team, was keenly contested and a delightful showcase of skills and panache, according to the commentary monitor from West Coast Radio at Kumasi Stadium.

Frank Abelia put the Ghana U-17 Team in front after 11 minutes and The Gambia U-17 team leveled the tally in the 13thminute of the match through Saihou Gassama. The first half ended 1-1.As play resumed in the second half, Ghana U-17 team applied heavy pressure on the Gambian U-17 defensive line. In the 44thand 75thminutes they registered their second and third goals from the penalty spot through skipper Morro Ibrihim.
