The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) is soliciting the support of the general public to come out in large numbers and rally behind Gambia’s only representatives (Gamtel FC) in the CAF contest on Saturday 15 February 2014 at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama when they host their Sierra Leone counterparts (RSLAF) in their return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.
A media release issued by GFF Media Officer, Bakary B. Baldeh, reads: “The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) is pleased to announce that its 2013 FA Cup Champions Gamtel/Gamcel FC will host the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces Football Club (RSLAF) in the return leg of the first round qualifiers of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday 15 February 2014 at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama at 16:30pm.
“In view of this development, the GFF solicits the support of the general public to come out in mass numbers and rally behind Gambia’s only representatives in the CAF contest after the withdrawal of Steve Biko from the CAF Champions League Qualifiers, as the telecom giants are half way into the next round of the qualifiers cognizance of their one-nil aggregate against their opponents,” the release added.
“The Local Organising Committee of the weekend match has pegged ticket prices as follows: VIP D50:00, covered, D25:00 and stands D15:00.
“The GFF is finally hereby extending thanks and gratitude to the Government of The Gambia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support to the Gambian club in their away leg and further thank the Gambian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone His Excellency Cherno B. Touray and staff for their daily caring of the team and not forgetting the Gambian community for their massive turnout at the stadium in Freetown,” noted the release.
“While wishing Gamtel/Gamcel FC best of luck, do accept my highest sporting regards,” it concluded.
