GFF 1st Division League Winds Up

The 2013-2014 GFF national division one league season finally wrapped up at the week-end, with thrilling encounters in Banjul, Brikama and Serrekunda East respectively.

Real de Banjul were crowned champions after snatching 42 points in twenty-two outings. This was so despite they were deducted six points for using unqualified players in the persons of striker Madi Fatty and winger Lamin Jallow alias Beck.

Gamtel finished league runners up for the first time in their history after securing 37 points in twenty-two games, since making their debut in the country’s top flight in the 90s.The 2009-2010 league champions Gambia Ports Authority finished 3rd place on the league table with 32 points in twenty-two games.

2010-2011 league champions Brikama United finished 4th place on the league table with 31 points in twenty-two games, while the record champions Wallidan finished 5th place on the league table with 30 points in twenty-two games.

The 2012-2013 league champions and Bakau giant killers Steve Biko and academy boys Samger were demoted to the country’s second tier, after finishing second from bottom and bottom place on the league table with 24 points each in twenty-two games.
