GFA 1st Division League round-up

Armed Forces beat Bakau United 1-0 in the Week 20 fixtures to rejuvenate their lead in the ongoing GFA division one league played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium weekend.

Kabba Jobe’s 41th minute brilliant header was enough for Armed Forces to grab the maximum points at the expense of Bakau United, who are fighting for survival in the premier tier next season.

Bakau giants Steve Biko and telecommunication giants Gamtel’s hopes of clinching their first-ever league title is over following their goalless draw at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Reigning league champions Brikama United thumped Young Africans 2-0 at the Banjul KG 5 Mini Stadium; ferry boys Gambia Ports Authority beat Hawks 1-0 at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

Academy boys Samger were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation threatened Serrekunda United at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

City boys Real De Banjul beat city-rivals Wallidan 2-1 in the all-Banjul derby in the other Week 20 fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Armed Forces are currently leading the league table with 35 points in twenty games;  Real De Banjul  have snatched 33 points in twenty games, Gambia Ports Authority 32 points three points behind league leaders Armed Forces.

Samger have collected 27 points in twenty games, Gamtel and Brikama United each have collected 26 points but Gamtel have played more games than Brikama United, who have a game in hand against Steve Biko.

Bakau United have collected 25 points in twenty games, Hawks and Young Africans each have secured 24 points in twenty games, while Steve Biko have snatched 23 points in nineteen games with a game in hand against defending league champions Brikama United.

Record champions Wallidan are still struggling 2nd place from bottom with 19 points in twenty games, while Serrekunda United are rooted at the bottom of the table with 17 points in twenty games with two more games to go.
