The AGM brought together regional governors from across the country and various member representatives.
In his welcoming remarks, Mustapha Njai, board chairman of Gamworks, expressed pleasure to report that it was another good year in terms of board governance and performance of its oversight functions, management achievements in delivering successfully completed projects and delegated management contracts to the satisfaction of their clients.
He was also happy to note that Gamworks continues to earn the confidence of Government and their development partners, particularly the Islamic Development Bank.
He added that Gamworks continues to contribute its quota to national development, having satisfactorily implemented development projects and programmes in excess of US$100 million from 1996 to date.
He also reported that the agency’s contribution to the Gambian economy was “great”.
Mr Njai recalled the accolade of recognition received by Gamworks at the 2012 GCCI Award Night, held on 1 June 2012 at the Coco Ocean Hotel.
“We are delighted that the contribution of Gamworks towards the national development has been recognized in this way, thanks to the board and management of Gamworks for this national honour,” he said.
In his report, the director general of Gamworks, Ebrima Cham, spoke on the activities of the agency in 2012.
He also spoke about the achievements registered in some of their projects, which include the Gambia Community-based Infrastructure and Livelihood Improvement Project, CILIP.
Mr Cham further asserted that the main objectives of Gamworks include implementing development projects, especially in infrastructure, on behalf of the Government of The Gambia and their development partners.
He also stated that the achievement registered by Gamworks over the last 12 months could not have been accomplished without the commitment, professionalism and hard work of the staff at the agency.
