Speaking on the occasion, Ramou Nyass, Acting-Deputy Managing Director of Gamcel, said Gamcel as the National GSM operator belongs to all Gambians and the country.

Anyone with Gamcel sim should register it officially, she said, adding that their visit to Busumbala was to launch a new cell site because Busumbala belongs to places they give network with full services.

The people of Busumbala do not need to climb trees or do anything like that to access Gamcel network, she noted, saying anywhere they are there is network.

The women, she added, should thank God for Gamcel where most of the leaders are women, which shows the President’s initiative of empoweringwomen in the country.

She commended the Alkalo for hosting them and the people of Busumbala for their support.

The Alkalo of Busumbala said Gamcel is the first GSM operator that has actually been to Busumbala to officially familiarize themselves with the people.

“Busumbala is very grateful to Gamcel,” he noted, saying they have been with the company since its sim card was D300.

They are very happy to receive the new pole, which has made it easier for them to have good communication access, as the network “is good and is very clear when making international calls”.

The Alkalo therefore called on all those without Gamcel sim to go get one to enjoy the good service the company offers.

For his part, Kebba Bojang, Director of Customer Services, said Gamcel is Gambian and as such belongs to the people of The Gambia.

Gamcel was built by Gambians’ money, he intimated, saying they knew Busumbala already has a network but they felt the need for them to have their own pole to make the already existing network even more powerful.
