As part of their traditional Ramadan gift, the national GSM operator, Gamcel, yesterday presented one thousand bags of sugar to the Supreme Islamic Council (SIC).
The gesture is meant to reach out to all Muslims in the country in this holiest month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the company's head office in Kanifing, Ebrima Tambajang of Gamcel, said Gamcel will continue to give more helping hand to Muslims in the country in years to come.
The Human Resource Manager of Gamcel, Mr. Seedy Jaiteh, hailed all those who have attended the presentation ceremony and urged Supreme Islamic Council to pray for the company so that they can realise their objectives.
For his part, the President of Supreme Islamic Council, Imam Muhammed Lamin Touray, highlighted the significance of the Holy month of Ramadan.
He added that helping Muslims, especially the poor and needy in this month of Ramadan is a worthy cause.
Imam Touray encouraged other companies and institutions to emulate Gamcel.
Other speakers included the Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Yankuba Colley.
