KMC Commits Over 800, 000 for Scholarships
In its drive to complement the government’s efforts in providing education for all, the Kanifing Municipal Council has committed more than D800, 000 to sponsor needy students in this academic year.
A media release from the council said the amount, which is to be paid by installment to different schools around the Greater Banjul Area, has recently made the first part-payment amounting to D200, 000 to 27 schools.
The release added that the rest of the payment will be made as soon as possible.
“The council under the current leadership of Mayor Yankuba Colley and the recently-appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mustapha M. Njai, is going the extra mile in ensuring that all the students that the council has approved to sponsor enjoy a well-coordinated scholarship this year, and in all the years ahead,” the release stated.
