Gamcel FC clinch Gunjur Super Cup

Gamcel FC were on Sunday crowned champions of the 2010 Gunjur Super Cup title following their 3-1 win over Oxford United FC in a well-contested final game, played at the Gunjur playing ground, after 1-1 draw in the regular time of play.

Oxford United FC opened the tally through substitute Foday Njie in the 70th minute and Gamcel FC leveled the scores through striker Yusupha Barrow, alias Beckham in the dying minutes of the game after capitalising on Oxford United FC defensive blunders to make it 1-1, which pushed the game in a post-match shoot-out .

As the champions, Gamcel FC went home with a trophy and cash prize of D3, 500, while Oxford United FC received D2, 500.

Meanwhile, the 2010-2011 Gunjur Nawettan Championship will kick-start today Tuesday 3rd August 2010 between World 11FC and J&P FC.

On Wednesday 4th August Nyokoyorr FC will face Passamai FC, while Thursday 5th August 2010 encounter will see Solifo FC taking on Santos United FC.

On Friday, Qcell FC will clash with Commit FC, while Saturday’s match will be played between NAS FC who will rub shoulders with Newtown FC.

Jannehkoto FC will entertain Kulukochi United FC on Sunday 8th August.
