Gamcel donates D200,000 to NAYCONF

The country's premier GSM operator, Gamcel, yesterday presented a cheque for D200,000 to the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), the host of this year's National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF 2010).

The cheque, which was presented at a ceremony held at Gamcel head office in Kanifing, is part of the company's contribution towards a successful hosting of the biennial youth gathering.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Foday Ceesay, the General Manager of Gamcel, described the presentation as a small one, noting that he wished it could have been bigger looking at their relationship with the KMC.

He stated that the KMC has always been supportive to them, and assured the council of his company's continuous support in the near future.

Yankuba Colley, the Mayor of Kanifing Municipality, said Gamcel has demonstrated the partnership they always shared by coming up with such a wonderful gesture.

They at the KMC are very proud of Gamcel, and the youths of KMC are also happy to be associated with the company, he added.

Mayor Colley also said that they are appreciative, and will always partner with Gamcel, noting that Gamcel are building a right future for this country.

He concluded by assuring Gamcel that they would put the money given to them in the right place, noting that their motor at the KMC is transparency.

Landing Sanneh, the youth coordinator at the KMC, also thanked Gamcel and other partners who are making  efforts to see to it that the NAYCONF 2010 is successful.

He added that Gamcel has always been associated with national development, adding that the money donated will not only benefit the KMC, but also the youths within the KMC and the country at large.

Kebba Bojang, Senior Manager Marketing Customer Service at Gamcel, says Gamcel has always been active participants in the event, adding that they will be coming in full force to celebrate the occasion with KMC, to make it a success.

He says it is everybody's duty to nurture and give the youths the skills they require, noting that all what they are doing is to see to it that the youths of the country prosper.

Mustapha Ceesay, Marketing Manager at Gamcel, said investing in the youth is like investing in national development, since the youth are the future leaders of the country.

He urged the youth to be associated with Gamcel, since the company really cares about youth empowerment.
