The Marie Rivier Associates around the Greater Banjul Area gathered at the Shalom last week to meet Sr. Claudette Casvent, one of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary?s General Counselor from Rome, who is presently in The Gambia on a one-month visit.

Sr. Claudette, a Canadian was here last January 2008 for the Inter-Provincial Meeting.

She came to acquaint herself with the Sisters of Presentation of Mary to see how self-reliant they have been over the last three years. She will be visiting all five communities of the Sister of Presentation of Mary.

She expressed gratitude to the associates, describing their welcome as ?the warm weather?.

The associates were divided into ten groups, with each discussing on how an associate should live by example as the light and salt of the earth, and how Marie Rivier became the salt of the earth?

The groups came up with many examples, such as salt which is often used for taste and preservation.

?The group should try to love one another, be strong in faith, share with the poor, preach the Good News, and to sum it all, live a good Christian life worthy of emulation?.

The love and admiration Marie Rivier had for the Blessed Virgin Mary kept her going throughout her life and her aim was to make Christ known throughout the four corners of the world.

The associates were very delighted, and thus promised to follow the footsteps of the Blessed Marie Rivier.
