The marriage, witnessed by family and friends of the couple, now means the former UK 400m hurdle champion and Gambia national record holder has managed to connect back to the home country, where her mum and dad come from .
Nusrat was born in Leighton, East London, and said of her marriage, ‘’I’m very pleased to have to settle down. I’m most delighted to be among family in this great country of The Gambia, my home.’’
A family friend of the athlete, who represented The Gambia at the All-Africa Games, among others, said Nusrat is ‘up to the moon’ about this marriage.
