Gambia Wrestling Association to Stage Grand Bout

Gambia Wrestling Association will this weekend organise a grand wrestling combat between Civilian wrestlers and Soldiers at the Buffer Zone.

Speaking in an interview with Pointsport yesterday, the president of the Gambia Wrestling Association, Mattarr Jarju, said the grand event is expected to bring together best wrestlers of the army and civilians to compete, noting that the involvement of the soldiers in the game is timely.

He stated that it is part of the association's plans to organise wrestling nationwide. He noted that presently wrestling is gaining momentum in the country.

He further pointed out that recently a Gambian won a bronze medal in the second edition of the ECOWAS wrestling championship held in Senegal.
