The Gambia National U-20 team has started intensive training for their crunch 2017 African U-20 Youth Championship final qualifiers first-leg tie with Guinea Conakry.

The Darling Scorpions will host Young Silly National in the first leg in Banjul on 9 July 2016, after eliminating North African powerhouse Morocco in the second round of the qualifiers on penalties after 1-1 aggregate draw in both legs.

Coach Omar Sise and his charges have embarked on intense preparations for their crucial clash with the Guineans for a spot in African U-20 Youth championship to be hosted in Zambia next year.

Guinea Conakry, on the other hand, edged past fellow West African Ivory Coast thanks to their resounding 2-0 win over the Young Elephants in the first leg clash of the second round in Abidjan before losing to the Ivorians 1-0 in the second leg in Conakry, but sailed to the final round of the qualifiers on away goal rule.
