Gambia travel to Morocco ahead of WC Qualifier

Jun 12, 2013, 10:33 AM

The National Football Team (Scorpions) will leave Banjul on Wednesday 12 June 2013 for Morocco for their fifth World Cup Qualifying match against the Atlas Lions of Morocco scheduled for Saturday 15th June in Marrakesh.

This is preceded by the Scorpions’ loss to Ivory Coast in Banjul for the second time by a three-goal margin in their forth World Cup qualifying game.

The result still places The Gambia at the bottom of the table with a solitary point while their heavyweight opponents Ivory Coast maintain pole position on ten points.

Meanwhile, the Normalisation Committee of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has assessed that the performance of the Scorpions was quite encouraging and once again has congratulated the team and technicians for a deserved performance although it did not match with the result.

The GFF is very much satisfied with the performance and therefore challenges the boys to maintain the positive momentum and further assures the team of its unflinching support and courage all the way to the qualifiers.

The Normalisation Committee is further pleased to thank all institutions and stakeholders who patronised the GFF on the day for the success of the game including the media family for the publicity and coverage.
