Gambia Taekwondo Association to hold selection tourney

The Gambia Taekwondo Association (GTA) will Tuesday organise a daylong tournament for Taekwondo players in the county at the Elitte Fitness Centre opposite Duplex Night Club in Senegambia.

The tournament is being organised to select good Taekwondo players in the country and to also nurture and develop the skills of the country's young talented Taekwondo players.

In an interview with Pointsport, the Secretary General of the Gambia Taekwondo Association (GTA), Muhammed Dinho, said Taekwondo originated from Korea.

Six teams have already registered with the association, he said, adding that their doors are open to all Taekwondo clubs in the country.

According to SG Dinho, the cardinal objective of his association is to promote and develop young talented Taekwondo players of the country.

The association has opened Taekwondo School in Bakoteh, he said, adding that it is working at opening another Taekwondo school in another area of the country to nurture young talented Taikowando players.

"The association is also planing to take part in different international competitions," he said. "The association also has some female Taekwondo players who are performing extremely well."
Dinho seized the opportunity to call on Gambians to support his association to attain its dreams and aspirations for the country.
